'You Warriors are good ... real good.' 'The best.'

There are great movies like 'Lawrence Of Arabia', which I can't watch too often because of their length ... they're works of art but not something I can revisit too often. And then there are movies like 'The Warriors', which are pure balls-out entertainment and which I try to watch at least once per year. The acting in 'The Warriors' is almost universally shocking but it is such a purely awesome movie, effortlessly cool, full of memorable lines and crammed with action. Seeing as it's probably one of my top three favourite films, I figured it was about time I did some fanart.

Swan, Cochise and Ajax were easy picks for three of the four. I should've probably gone with Rembrandt for the last but he's just such a wuss. Cowboy's a non-entity, Fox gets killed off early and Vermin's a whiner. Number Four had to be Snow, who's easily the coolest of the Warriors in my book. He's a man of few words but when he talks, the others listen and he gets some wicked lines - "We're going like everybody else ... nine guys, no weapons." Many of the Warriors deliver their lines like robots but Snow's the most robotic of them all, and yet it really works for him. He's also the best fighter of the group after Ajax.

Naively, I thought Swan would be the hardest of the guys to draw because of Michael Beck's relatively bland features ... but Cochise was a nightmare. I had to start over with him 3 or 4 times - this was my best effort but I'm still not totally happy with it. It's not that bad but it's not as good as the others and it just doesn't look like David Harris. Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

I'm taking a break from posting new art for a month. Real life gets in the way.
